Cynowa 1900 Census
Joseph (24), Mary (23), Frank (1), Clara (0)
The 1900 census provides historical context for the disruption experienced by Anna Jachwak’s young family in 1930.
Joseph and Mary Cynowa ultimately became the guardians of Anne’s son, Frank. They were his grandparents on his father’s side. The Frank listed in this census is the father of Anna’s son, Frank.
Following the state’s intervention and the removal of Anna’s children, a social worker arrived at Joseph and Mary’s residence with young Frank. Frank possessed only a paper bag containing a single change of clothing. The social worker inquired if they would accept Frank as their ward. They did, but his biological father never communicated with him.
