[Rittinger / Chusetts] Early Years

2743 Philadelphia Home

Sue often mentioned how wonderful their family home on a Philadelphia street in Detroit was. It had that lovely yellow siding with green shutters. But it seems they only lived there for a brief time, between 1930 and 1940. Those were tough years for young Sue and Bill, with so much happening around them. The world was at war, and back in Detroit, Tillie Rittinger was very ill and passed away on October 12, 1945. Their father, Edward Rittinger, remarried in July of 1946.

Here’s a photo of the Philadelphia house when it was at its best.

The pin on the map shows the location of the Philadelphia house.
