Travis Album: 1960s
This album highlights photos taken of the Travis family during the 1960s. During this period, the Family lived in three different houses, two in Garden City and one in Livonia. Bob and Sue Travis had three children; Rob, Bill, and Rich. Descriptions in the following photos will use these names to identify individuals.
Most of these photos were scanned from my dad’s (Bob Travis) 35mm slide collection.
Rob hanging out in the front yard of our house on Alvin St. in Garden City.
Sue catching up on a bit of reading.
Bob looking sharp ready for date night with sue.
Early 1960s - Rex, Rob, and Uncle Donald (Kosila)

Bill striking a pose.
The Flip It House - In the summer of 1961 Bob and Sue purchased this house on Birchlawn in Garden City. Once again the Alvin house was rented out. I assume the goal was to live in this house while they fixed it up. We only lived there a year and then we were back on Alvin. I believe they gave up and just sold it.

Don't forget Richie

Same porch. Rich very interested in the legs of the girl next-door, Nancy LaFehr.
Mom made these costumes for Halloween of 1964.
Bill with another boxer to replace Rex. Not sure the name of this pet, but would not be surprised if it was also Rex.
Halloween night enjoying some of the treats.
Not sure what is going on here. Mom and Rich are like why are you taking this picture? (photo was shot in the basement on Alvin)
Easter Sunday photo captured in front of the neighbor's car (yet another care backdrop). Front row: Timmy Waycar, Rob, Steve LaFehr, Raymond LaFehr, and a Schumacher boy. Back row: unknown, unknown, Bill.
We moved to 36502 Joanne St. in the summer of 1965. We lived there for 10 years.
From a distance, Sue is marveled at the craftsmanship displayed by the young builders.
Shortly after we move in, we decided we needed a guest house. L to R Mom (sitting behind our house), Steve Smith (neighbor), Rob, Rich, Dean Anderson (neighbor, his backyard), Bill on the roof of the guest house.
Note: This house was designed as an all electric home. The kitchen had an interesting feature. One long unit that contained a washer/dryer, kitchen sink, dishwasher, and cooktop and oven. All this was covered by one long stainless steel top. Bonus it came in harvest gold.
